Hello! I’m Marcela, a writer, translator, and academic based in Brazil. In my PhD thesis, I wrote about Anna Burns’s novel Milkman, which inspired the name of this newsletter. Here, I share a lot of essays, some personal, some critical, that revolve around the books, films, and experiences that made and keep on making me think, ask questions, and connect with the world in unexpected ways.

I'm a Professor of English Literature at the Rio de Janeiro State University. You can read more about my academic publications and books on my website. I also publish reviews there.

This newsletter is radically important to me, a place of creativity and intellectual investigation where I allow myself to go beyond the limitations that academic writing (which I also love) imposes on one’s mind.
